Frequently asked questions

Who will I talk to?

A person like you who is interested in talking to someone who holds different views on important issues. They, also like you, don't know anything about how your views differ.

How do these calls work?

Calls have two participants with one facilitator. Facilitators introduce the callers and may share information about any common ground they may have. Callers then speak for 8 minutes about whatever they like.* They do not have to discuss their beliefs.

* Participants may withdraw at any time and must adhere to our terms of service.

When do calls happen?

Calls happen on a rolling basis. To schedule a call, use the "START HERE" page to select a time and then answer a few questions. If all times are booked, check back soon as we're constantly adding new availability.

Who is eligible to participate?

Callers must agree to our terms of service, which clarify minimum requirements and expectations for participants. Please review our full terms here.

Do I need to prepare?

No, though many participants find it helpful to think of some questions to ask their counterpart ahead of time. When it’s time for the call, follow the instructions in the invitation sent to your email. Generally, we will call you directly to make it as easy as possible.

Why do I need to do the survey first?

We use the survey to understand your beliefs so we can match you with someone with different beliefs.
